Summer Meeting #5
On 3rd August Carolyn hosted the fifth summer meeting. It was the first I had managed to this year, and it was so much fun, I’m really sorry I missed the others. Various genres of writing were discussed by ten of us.
Ann, Lesley and Wilma produced humorous poems. Ann and Lesley had written theirs as a result of intense frustration, and Wilma’s led to a discussion about the names people give their children.
Carolyn contributed a short story that was inspired by a workshop session, and Maggie made us laugh with a short story that might turn into a piece of drama. Michael and Catherine both kept us engrossed as they read extracts from their crime novels. Janice read more of her dragon story, I realised my French story had too many ducks in it, and Dorothy impressed us all with her thought-provoking article. At tea time discussions continued and we all went home with tips on the best writing festivals to attend and suggestions of publication routes. Thanks for the lovely banana loaf, Carolyn, and congratulations on your Scottish Memories success.
The next meeting will be at Janice’s house on 17 August at 7.30 p.m. Members will be notified by e-mail.
