Summer Meeting #3
I have now attended two of the summer meetings (being somewhat of a newbie to the group) and have really enjoyed each one. Having the opportunity to meet in a relaxed social setting and listen to work in progress from talented writers is surely the ideal way to spend a summer evening. Mind you, I’m not sure how relaxing it was for Lesley as she was prompted to contribute an article about ‘tidying the house’ prior to the group arriving!
The evening began with a somewhat dreamy theme as Janice read some chapters from her children’s novel ‘Birthday Wish’. Maggie, Dorothy and myself were definitely in a summery mood with our poems, ‘Summer Children’, ‘New Life’ and ‘The Barbecue‘. The ambience became more serious as Michael read a chapter from his current work, ‘The Bad Samaritan’, the third book of his crime trilogy.
As tea was served, Ann opened a discussion on ebooks; linking our blog to other sites and the use of Kindle, which somehow led to a debate on how mobile phones fall down loos!
A great evening, with the next meeting to be held in two weeks (20th July) with venue to be confirmed.
